Norican awarded bronze EcoVadis rating for ESG performance

Norican Group has been awarded a global bronze-level ESG rating by leading sustainability assessment organisation EcoVadis.

Norican has been working with EcoVadis since 2021 to improve tracking and documentation of key environmental, social and governance performance indicators.

The 2022 rating is an improvement from Norican’s 2021 baseline, with an aggregate score of 51 across EcoVadis’ four assessment categories:

1. Environment

2. Labor & human rights

3. Ethics

4. Sustainable procurement

“The sustainability and ESG performance of our business is an important priority for the global leadership team and me. We are proud of the progress we’ve made in as little as 12 months, although we still have room for further improvement.

The key message to take away is: if you set your mind on it, you can improve your ESG performance in swift sprints – and become a business that is better and does better.”

- Anders Wilhjelm, CEO of Norican

Established in 2007, the EcoVadis framework has been used by more than 100,000 business worldwide to assess and rank sustainability performance and fast-track progress.

Grzegorz Kalin-Czerski, Global Lean Champion at Norican, explains: “The EcoVadis framework has helped us not just to do the right thing and do better, but to embed good behavior in policies and processes. The scoring system shines a spotlight on areas for improvement, which we tackle quickly one by one.

Last year, we developed and introduced our sustainable procurement policy, which has helped colleagues globally make procurement decisions in line with our sustainability commitments. This work has boosted our score and is already paying off across the business. The 2022 assessment has given us many pointers and we’re now working towards achieving a silver-level score within the space of a year or two.”
